My name is Kris and I began my business in March 2005 as a result of the journey we were on with my then 3 year old son. At the time, we began "gcFree" and in July 2009 changed our name to Allergy Friendly Foods, to better reflect what we are all about.

In 2004 Tim was diagnosed with an Autistic Spectrum Disorder. After spending a long time researching the many treatment options and therapies, we decided to head down the biomedical track and one of the first things we did was implement a Gluten Free/Casein Free diet and have him tested for food allergies. We were amazed to find Tim was allergic to HEAPS of foods apart from dairy & gluten, including soy, rice and almond. That left us completely stuck for a milk alternative and I went on a mission on the internet to find something he could have.

I had seen Vance’s DariFree mentioned in several of the books I had read about autism and the GFCF diet, and decided to order some from the USA since it was not available in Australia. It arrived (at considerable postage cost!) a few weeks later, and was a complete life saver for us. I could now bake, make him smoothies and give him milk on cereal, just like a "normal" kid.

I couldn't believe such a great product was not available here, so I set about becoming their Australian Distributor to make it available to the many other kids in Australia like Tim (and their frustrated mums who are always looking for safe alternatives and something that tastes good).

In late 2008 I was thrilled to be able to introduce the Enjoy Life range of products to Australia. Enjoy Life is the largest allergy manufacturer in the USA and produces a magnificent range of cookies, snack bars, choc chips & chocolate bars all free of the major allergens and with nothing artificial and no nasties. They are simply sensational products and I'm very excited to have them as part of our offerings.

Since starting out, I have come into contact with so many lovely people, many who have children on restrictive diets. I didn't know there were so many metabolic diseases about, and I take my hat off to all the parents out there who struggle daily to give their kids a balanced diet while juggling their allergies.

Many of my products suit conditions such as PKU & reflux problems, and all are perfect for coeliacs, vegetarians (most are Vegan as well), and all are Kosher. And if you have multiple food intolerances, then you are in the right place, as that is our specialty!
